Privacy Policy

This website is operated under the name "Solon Prep" ("we", "us", "our"). This notice explains what personal data we collect and how we use it. It covers the website, printed book orders and the Solon Prep study app (Solon Chambers and Solon Court).

What we collect

• Contact form and updates: your name, email address and message when you contact us, and your email address if you asked to hear about the question bank.
• Book orders: your name, delivery address, email address and phone number. Payment is handled by our payment provider, Stripe; we don't see or store your card details.
• Your account: your email address, and your Google account email and name if you sign in with Google.
• Study data: your exam sitting and preferences, your answers and timings, flags, notes, highlights, practice sessions, mock exam attempts and your review schedule.
• Things you send us: problem reports about questions; exam results you choose to tell us, and any proof you upload; bursary applications.
• Purchases and access: what you bought, when, the amount, and the access it gives you.
• Security data: the devices you're signed in on, and a one-way hashed form of your network address. We don't store the address itself.
• Analytics: how the site and app are used, measured with Google Analytics, and Google Ads conversion measurement (whether our adverts lead to sign-ups and purchases). See our Cookie Policy. Analytics never includes question text or your email address.

How we use it

• To answer your enquiries and send and support your book orders.
• To run your account and the app: serving questions, saving your progress, timing mock exams, scheduling reviews and showing your own statistics.
• To show other users anonymous totals of how each question was answered. These never include anything that identifies you, and appear only once enough people have answered.
• To handle reports. Report text may be processed by an AI service to help our editors; your name and email address are not sent with it.
• To decide bursary applications and requests to extend access after a resit.
• To take payments, give you access, and handle refunds.
• To keep accounts and the question bank secure, including limiting signed-in devices and spotting misuse.
• To send you emails about your account, purchases, reports and security. We send marketing emails only if you opted in, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
• To understand how the site and app are used and improve them, and to measure whether our adverts lead to sign-ups and purchases.

Legal bases

We use your data to perform our contract with you (your account, study data, purchases and book orders), on the basis of our legitimate interests (answering enquiries, handling reports, keeping the service secure, producing anonymous totals and improving our content), to meet our legal obligations (such as keeping accounting records), and with your consent (marketing emails, and sharing your reported result in anonymous estimates). You can withdraw consent at any time.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data and we do not share it for third-party marketing. We use service providers who process data on our behalf: hosting and database, payment (Stripe), our print partner (for book orders), email delivery, Google (sign-in with Google, analytics and advertising measurement), and an AI service for report triage. If you use the SQE1 Readiness Score, we email you your results and, if you opt in, we send your first name, email address and your score results to Kit (our email marketing provider) so we can send you revision tips. If you request one of our free PDFs, we send your email address to Kit so it can email you the PDF and occasional SQE1 tips. You can unsubscribe from any email. Some of these providers process data outside the UK; where they do, appropriate safeguards are in place.

How long we keep it

• Your account and study data are kept until you delete your account. Deleting it removes your profile, answers, sessions, mock attempts, flags, notes, highlights, review schedule, reports, reported results, access and device records.
• After deletion, your answers remain only inside anonymous totals of how each question was answered.
• Purchase records are kept for six years for accounting, with the link to your account removed when you delete it.
• Contact messages, book orders, bursary applications, uploaded result proofs, anonymous calibration-test records and security logs are kept until they're no longer needed or until you ask us to delete them.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to data portability. In the app, go to Account to download a copy of your account and study data, or to delete your account. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
